The system uses a predefined rendering configuration for each conversion to PDF.
The following table defines the current configuration when converting to PDF:
Parameter |
Description |
Value |
COLORMODEL | Specifies the color model to be used for all colors in the PDF document. (CMYK colors are usually used for printing documents on color printers) |
RGB |
IMAGECOMPRESSION | Sets the Image Compression Algorithm. |
Automatic (Default, 256Color, JPEG) |
JPEGCOMPRESSIONLEVEL | Sets the JPEG Compression Level if the Image Compression is set to JPEG. Lower settings indicate lower quality, higher compression and smaller file size. Higher settings indicate higher quality, less compression and a larger file size. |
5 (Value of 1 to 9) |
MONOIMAGECOMPRESSION | Sets the Mono Image Compression Algorithm. JBIG2 and JBIG2Lossless are high compression algorithms. |
CCITTGroup4 |
GRAYSCALE | Enables/Disables conversion of the PDF content to Gray Scale rather than color. |
No |
PAGECOMPRESSION | Enables/Disables Page Content Compression. The content of the PDF will be sampled to a lower quality. |
Yes |
DOWNSAMPLEIMAGES | If enabled, all images in the output PDF will be down sampled to the Resolution. |
Yes |
RESOLUTION | Specifies the resolution of the PDF. Measured in dots per inch (DPI). |

PARTIALFONTS | Enables/Disables Partial Font Embedding. Partial Font embedding only embeds the characters actually used in the PDF. This reduces the size of the PDF document significantly. (Only applicable to MULTILANGUAGEFONTS) |
Yes |
OPENSETTINGS ENABLED | Enables/Disables Document Open Options. | Yes |
MAGNIFICATION | Specifies the size in which the page is displayed in the document pane. |

Known limitations:
- A4 format is not supported in when converting MS Word documents to PDF.
- Cannot convert documents that are password protected.
Troubleshooting:
When the system cannot convert and open a document in PDF, the first thing to do is to confirm that the file can be exported via MS Word.
To do this:
- Open the original file in MS Word.
- Click on the File menu.
- Click on Export and in the Export window, click on the Create PDF/XPS Document button.
- Select the path and file name for the exported PDF file and click Publish.
If the file cannot be exported, you will need to try to resolve the issue, either by tweaking the margins/formatting of the document or by creating a new document from scratch and copy/pasting the content of the original file while making sure the document can always be exported to PDF throughout the operation.
This can occur because the PDF conversion in SOLABS QM10 is done through the Adlib, which uses the MS Office native application rendition to convert MS Office files to PDF. If the conversion does not work in MS Word, it will not work through Adlib either.
Once you have a version that can be exported successfully, you should now be able to upload it back into SOLABS QM10 without any issue.
If, after trying the above procedure, the file still won't convert to PDF from within SOLABS QM10, we recommend that you send a help request to SOLABS Support (support@solabs.com).
