Environment
- Product: SOLABS QM10
- Component: Collaborative Review (SharePoint Online integration)
-
Applies to: Users with Collaborative Review access already granted in SOLABS QM10
Issue / Symptoms
A user who has been granted access to the Collaborative Review feature in SOLABS QM10 is unable to open a document through this feature. When attempting to access the document, the following error message is displayed:
"You do not have privileges in SharePoint Online to use the QM10 Collaborative Review feature. Either contact your internal IT Support to have them grant you access to the Library, or disable the Collaborative Review feature for your account."
Cause
Collaborative Review requires two separate, independent permissions to be in place:
- Access to the Collaborative Review feature, granted in SOLABS QM10.
- Access to the corresponding library, granted in the customer's SharePoint Online tenant.
In this scenario, the user has been granted access in SOLABS QM10, but has not yet (or has only recently) been granted the corresponding access in SharePoint Online. As a result, the Collaborative Review feature cannot validate the user's SharePoint privileges and returns the error above.
Even after SharePoint access has been correctly granted, a delay in the synchronization of SharePoint permissions is commonly observed. During this delay, the same error may persist temporarily even though the access has technically been configured.
Resolution
- Confirm that the affected user has Collaborative Review access granted in SOLABS QM10 (see related article: Granting User Permissions to Document Folders and Process Workflows).
- Ask your IT team to grant the user access to the relevant SharePoint Online site/library by adding them to the SOLABS QM10 SharePoint group (see related article: Adding a User for the Collaborative Review – SharePoint Side).
- If the user still receives the error after SharePoint access has been granted, the permission synchronization delay is the likely cause. To force the synchronization for that specific user:
- In SharePoint Online, navigate to the relevant site and library.
- Open the Check Permissions feature (available from the site or library permissions settings).
- Enter the affected user's name or email address and run the check.
- This action has been observed to force SharePoint to synchronize the permissions for that specific user.
- you should have the users current permissions returned on screen :
- you should have the users current permissions returned on screen :
- Ask the user to close and reopen the document (or sign out and back in) and attempt to access Collaborative Review again.
- Confirm that the error no longer appears and that the document opens as expected.
Note: The Check Permissions feature is not an officially documented synchronization tool, but it has been reliably observed to resolve delayed permission propagation in this scenario. If the error persists after using this workaround, allow additional time for synchronization before escalating.
Additional Information
Preventive measure: When granting a user access to Collaborative Review, verify that both the SOLABS QM10 permission and the SharePoint Online permission are configured together, and allow a short delay for SharePoint synchronization before assuming the configuration is faulty.
